It was a great debut for Prithvi Shaw on the other day when India locked horns against Windies at Rajkot. Shaw turned up with the century on debut showing his class to the world on International stage. Speaking of the exceptional talent, Indian skipper, Virat Kohli wants to give some time to the youngster to grow from strength to strength.

The Indian skipper showered words of praise on the youngster for his incredible talent. During the course, he also cautioned by saying one should not compare him to the greats of the game at the very early stages, which might have an impact on Prithvi Shaw.

Virat Kohli doesn’t want him to rush into the game. Speaking on the nerves while receiving the maiden cap, he agreed to the fact that the Indian Premier League has made the things easy for the youngsters, as they already have played such high-pressure games.

“I don’t think Prithvi should be rushed into anything, yet. You need to give a youngster the space to grow. This guy is supremely talented and has great ability as everyone saw. We definitely think he has what it takes to play at the highest level. But I feel we should just let him enjoy his cricketand grow into the cricketer we all believe he can,” Virat Kohli said at the pre-press conference.

“When you’re handed the cap on the morning of the game, there are always butterflies in the stomach, and I’m sure everyone feels it. It is not as intense as 10-15 years back when you didn’t have any exposure to this kind of level of cricket and then suddenly, you’re making your Test debut – the toughest thing there could be. I agree with the fact that having played in the IPL in front of so many people, they’re not nervous about the big stage anymore,” he added.

However, it seems like Virat Kohli has a valid point to not rush the youngster. Prithvi Shaw is in supreme form and hopefully, he will continue the same for Team India to bring laurels across the world.
