Shaw has shown the right promise.

He met the ball under his eyes, kept his head still, moved to the pitch of the ball and used the depth of the crease with guile. Thus, Shaw showed why he was making all the right noises with his performances. Shaw was knocking hard at the selection doors and he was finally rewarded for his brilliant display.

In fact, it is not the case that Shaw has only impressed on his maiden appearance for the Indian team. Shaw had scored a hundred on his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai. He had scored 120 runs on his first-class debut against Tamil Nadu.

The young batsman continued to impress in the domestic season as he also scored a fine hundred on his Duleep Trophy debut. Shaw went on to score 154 for India Red while playing in the Duleep Trophy. Shaw has thus far scored seven first-class hundreds as he has shown the promise to the next sensation of Indian cricket.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw scored 537 runs in the Ranji Trophy season of 2017-18 as he scored his runs at an average of 48.81. Interestingly, the young batsman scored his runs at a strike rate of 75 as he batted in the topmost gear. Shaw scored three hundred and two fifties in the 12 matches of the Ranji Trophy. Shaw has also impressed with his skills on India A tour of England. The right-hander scored a fine 62 against England Lions in the solitary unofficial Test match. Shaw scored 353 runs in the six innings in the tri-series against England Lions and Windies as he was top scorer of the series.

Furthermore, the young batsman had also led the Under-19 team to glory in the World Cup.

In fact, the ongoing series against Windies is a perfect audition for the Australia tour. Therefore, Shaw has given a push to his envelope name for the Down Under tour. India has been struggling with their opening position and Shaw can definitely be the answer to team’s woes.

However, there is no denying the fact that Australian pitches and bowlers are going to bring different challenges to the table for Shaw. In fact, the young batsman has shown that he has the skills to come up roses in all the conditions.
