Ever since the short ball got restricted to one per over, the batsmen across the world have become quite happy to concentrate on the front-foot play. However, during the course, a few batsmen lost the magic of batting on the backfoot, which is hurting team India against lanky fast bowlers, to be precise. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar wants the Indian batsmen to master it quickly.

However, the former legendary cricketer quoted the Windies fast bowlers have been pretty smart in using their height to their advantage. India found it difficult in facing the Windies bowlers on the other night while chasing a below par total of 110 runs on the board in Kolkata.

Oshane Thomas can be the man for Windies – Sunil Gavaskar

Gavaskar showered words of praise on Oshane Thomas for his bowling effort against the Indians. He rattled Indian top-order to make things interesting in the first T20I. He was also exceptional in 50-over format as well.

Sunil Gavaskar feels one more supportive fast bowler to Oshane Thomas will do a world of good for the Windies side. Further, he also spoke on Lucknow conditions, which are alien to both the sides.

”The Indian batsmen’s discomfort when facing short balls at pace was seen as they, like most batsmen in the world, have forgotten the backfoot play ever since the bouncers have been restricted to one per over and helmets have come into play. Still, since a bowler can only bowl four overs in a T20 game and the Windies didn’t have another quickie to support Thomas, the lower-order batsmen were able to take India home,” Sunil Gavaskar quoted.

”Thomas can be the fast bowler Windies are looking for to let it rip. Thomas was happy to give the Indians some chin music and get them to smell the leather. Mind you, the Eden Gardens pitch had a bit of carrying and he may not get similar help in Lucknow. The new venue is not familiar with the Indians too and so both captains may be happy to lose the toss and see how the pitch is playing,” he added.

Well, as Sunil Gavaskar quoted Oshane Thomas has been brilliant in his approach against the Indians. One can find him pushing the ranks if stays fit and deliver the goods on a regular basis.
