India vs Windies 2018: Mayank Agarwal likely to replace Shikhar Dhawan in Tests

It seems like stars are finally trying to align for Mayank Agarwal. The swashbuckling Karnataka batsman might receive the call-up for upcoming Test series against Windies in the coming October. The poor tour of England might play a villain role for Shikhar Dhawan in retained his place in the Test squad.

Shikhar Dhawan has been the massive player for India in the Asian Conditions but unfortunately, he is failing to repeat the same in foreign tours. As per the sources, selectors are picking the squad in order to find the strong XI for the series against Australia.

Mayank Agarwal likely to get the nod:

The right-handed batsman scored the bulk of runs in the domestic circuit and for India A. He has been a force to reckon in the last 12 months by knocking the big tallies more often than not.

It was initially expected that Mayank Agarwal will get the nod in England series but the selectors gave the green signal for Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari, who are also equally good with Mayank Agarwal in the domestic arena.

According to a report in The Indian Express, prolific Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal is likely to get a maiden call-up. He has been the highest run-scorer for the 2017-18 season in Vizay Hazare Trophy with the staggering average of 90.

A lot of options left for selectors:

Only the place of KL Rahul has been the certainty in the squad against Windies. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari and the fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini are pushing their places.

Meanwhile, the senior Rohit Sharma is also in the line to make a comeback in the side after knocking it brilliantly in the Asia Cup 2018. However, it would be interesting to see the selection procedure for the upcoming series.
