India vs Windies 2018: Mohammed Siraj, Hanuma Vihari Released From Test Squad

India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and batsman Hanuma Vihari have been released from the Test squad. Both Siraj and Vihari will join their respective domestic team for the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Therefore, Siraj will join Hyderabad and Vihar will join the Andhra Pradesh team. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Manish Pandey have been drafted into the side as substitutes.

Andhra and Hyderabad will take on each other on 15 October in the fourth Quarterfinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Thus, Vihari and Siraj will lock horns with each other in the domestic circuit.

Shubman Gill and Manish Pandey called as substitutes.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj was expected to make his debut in the ongoing second Test match against the Windies.  On the other hand, Hanuma Vihari had made an impressive debut as he scored a valiant knock of 56 runs against England in the fifth Test.

Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur was given his maiden Test cap by the Indian team. Therefore, Thakur became the 294th Test player of India. However, the fast bowler didn’t have a memorable Test match as he could only bowl ten balls.

Thakur suffered a hamstring injury as he won’t bowl anymore in the ongoing match. However, the Mumbai player will bat for the team.

Meanwhile, Windies were able to make a solid comeback on the morning of Day three. The tourists were able to scalp five wickets to keep themselves afloat in the game. Windies skipper Jason Holder made a fine return to the side as he scored a fine fifty in the first innings. Furthermore, Holder took a five-wicket haul to keep the visitors in the game.

India currently leads by 30 runs and have only one wicket in hand. Thus, the opening session has belonged to the Windies.

BCCI took to their Twitter handle to confirm the news. The post read as, “Update: Mohammed Siraj & Hanuma Vihari have been released from the Test squad to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Knockouts. Manish Pandey and Shubman Gill have been drafted into the side as substitutes.
