India vs Windies 2018: MS Dhoni Was Most Gracious on T20I Selection - MSK Prasad

MS Dhoni is not an individual who will put self before the team. Dhoni has been a great servant of Indian cricket and his contributions to Indian cricket are colossal. In fact, MS Dhoni was dropped for the upcoming two T20I series against Windies and Australia. However, chief selector MSK Prasad said MS Dhoni was most gracious when he was told about his removal from the T20I side.

A meeting was held with MS Dhoni before the team was selected. Thus, Dhoni was made aware that he is going to be dropped as the selectors are looking to give young blood a go. In fact, Dhoni is not likely to be available for the World T20 in 2020. Therefore, it makes sense to give other players a go in place of the veteran player.

MS Dhoni’s reaction to the T20I squad was as expected.

“I myself spoke to MS and I must say he was most gracious. I explained our need to look at a second ’keeper and MS graciously supported the idea,” MSK Prasad said while talking to the Telegraph.

In fact, MSK Prasad statement is not a surprise as Dhoni has always been a team man. He knows what he brings to the table and has done a lot for Indian cricket. Furthermore, Dhoni is not someone who will stick around if he is not contributing to the team’s cause. However, his poor form with the bat hasn’t been his friend in the recent past.

“We’re looking at a second ’keeper, so Rishabh Pant is there and DK (Dinesh Karthik) hasn’t done badly either. Both, therefore, are in the T20I squads which we announced late on Friday,” Prasad went on to add.

MS Dhoni has always been a team man and he will always remain the same till the day he is playing the game. Dhoni has always put his hand up for the benefit of the team and would like to keep doing the same.

Dhoni has always wanted to give his best to the team and his reaction was expected.
