India vs Windies 2018: Pretty Disappointed with the Current SG Ball - Ravichandran Ashwin

Team India spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin reveals he is unhappy and disappointed with the current SG balls after India registered their biggest Test win, beating the Windies by an innings and 272 runs in Rajkot. Moreover, the debutant, Prithvi Shaw declared the Man of the Match for his brilliant effort.
However, Ravichandran Ashwin bagged four wickets and two wickets, respectively from first and second innings of the match. He admitted he felt somehow little bit stressed out on day two. Ashwin also bowled some excellent spell in NCA and previously in England. He also speaks in favour of Kookaburra red ball rather than the Dukes, and SG.
“I wanted to get my rhythm back and I somewhat managed to do that today, I was a bit apprehensive yesterday. I had a good stint at NCA and before that in England. It’s a fair amount of difference Kuldeep is talking about, adapting to the SG, Kookaburra and Dukes. The Kookaburra white ball doesn’t swing much nowadays, and you can’t feel the seam much as well. Right now I would say Kookaburra red ball is a lot better ball; Dukes is also right up there. Pretty disappointed with the current SG ball.” Ravichandran Ashwin quoted.

Moreover, the Windies did put up some better fight in the second essay. They were playing some attacking shots against the spinners.
However, the strategy of the Windies batsmen didn’t go much in their way, as the bowlers rattled them in quick time. Also, Ravichandran Ashwin feels the seam position is not affecting the bowlers after 70-80 overs which previously used to happen before.
“It used to be top-notch, the seam used to stand up strong even after 70-80 overs. Not the same anymore. I generally believe that in the second innings, the teams put up a better fight and there are a couple of partnerships here and there usually. This wicket was slightly better; it still is. Hence, I was surprised, shocked is the wrong word with the amount of attacking shots that were played against the spinners. Maybe it was their strategy against the spinners, but it clearly didn’t work this time.” Ravichandran Ashwin quoted.
Meanwhile, India will play the second Test against the Windies on October 12 (Friday) in Hyderabad.
