The ex India batsman was all praise for the youngster in his column to Times of India. The former Test specialist firmly believes Prithvi Shaw is the star for future.
However, the young Mumbaikar made his debut in the Test against Windies in Rajkot and blazed his way to a maiden century on his debut. He also finished the game with a man of the match in his kitty as well.

The classic cricketer-turned-commentator quoted the young Shaw has been brilliant in his approach to the game. He lauded the fearlessness of the youngster while facing the Windies’ bowlers on his debut game.
Further, he also quoted the youngster’s brilliance has dominated the magical knock from Virat Kohli. However, he strongly feels Prithvi Shaw has got all the ingredients to make it big for the team.
“It’s not often that a Test hundred by Virat is overshadowed. As well as the captain played, his thunder was stolen by a teenaged debutant. Prithvi Shaw is certainly cut out for bigger things. It was heart-warming to see him produce a spectacular century on debut,” VVS Laxman wrote for Times of India.
”The young man wasn’t overawed by the occasion or the stage and played in much the same manner as he does in first-class cricket – with a dominant, attacking mindset. His approach revolves around getting on top of the bowling and imposing himself, and he played true to character. That he understands his game so well at such a tender age and is also mature way beyond his years, indicate that the one for the long haul,” Laxman added.
