India vs Windies 2018: Why Shardul Thakur, BCCI? Asks Twitter as Mumbai Bowler Gets Picked for ODIs

It seems like the selectors are pretty much excited with the Shardul Thakur’s talent. They are backing him on a regular basis across the formats to keep him in the scheme of the things for the 2019 World Cup. Meanwhile, the Indian fans aren’t impressed with the selectors for persisting with Shardul Thakur.

Shardul was removed from the ODI setup in the mid-way of the Asia Cup 2018. Surprisingly, they once again called him for the series against the Windies in Test and ODI formats of the game.

Shardul Thakur gets the nod again:

India rested their ace bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah for the Test and ODI series against the Windies. Instead, they brought Thakur and Siraj for the Test series while in ODI, they retained Khaleel Ahmed.

The decision to give a recall to Mumbai fast bowler has surprised many followers of the Indian cricket. Few cited the politics in Indian cricket while few quoted the favouritism in picking Mumbai players.

Meanwhile, the selectors axed Dinesh Karthik from the side by giving a maiden call-up to Rishabh Pant in the ODIs. The other notable thing in the ODI squad announcement is they continued rest to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

However, Shardul Thakur has been impressive in the domestic format while playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare trophy 2018. It seems like BCCI has given one last chance to showcase his mettle in the ODI format of the game.

All in all, it would be interesting to see whether Shardul Thakur makes the chance count or not. With no seniors in the side, Shardul Thakur needs to be at his best while tackling the Windies batsmen.
