Prithvi Shaw is set to receive his maiden Test cap in the first Test match against the Windies at Rajkot. Shaw will be making his debut for India as the hosts have already confirmed their playing XI. Therefore, Shaw will take the opening position with KL Rahul for the first time. Meanwhile, prodigy batsman had received his maiden call-up to the Test squad for the first time on England tour.
However, he was not able to break into the playing XI. Shaw will be delighted to make his debut in the Indian whites. In fact, there is no doubt the talented batsman has earned his place in the side. The right-hander has been a consistent performer for the India A and Mumbai in the domestic season.
Shaw is set to debut for India.
Shaw had scored a hundred on his debut while playing in the Ranji Trophy. The talented batsman had also scored a fine century on his Duleep Trophy debut for the Rest of India.
On the other hand, Shaw had also led the Under-19 team to glory in the World Cup. Shaw did well for India A side. He had a successful tour of England with the A side and did great under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid.
He also scored a fine hundred against South Africa A while playing at Bangalore. Thus, Shaw has ticked all the right boxes to knock hard at the selection doors.
Therefore, Shaw is all set to become the 293rd Test player of the Indian team. Shaw is just 19 years old and it is a big achievement for him to make his place in the Test side.
This is how Twitter reacted to Prithvi Shaw’s debut:
Congratulations Prithvi Shaw for becoming 293rd Test player for India. Best of luck for dubut test. I hope you hit century on dubut as u did in Ranji and Duleep trophy debut for Mumbai and Rest of India. @BCCI @PrithviShaw #IndvWI

Kane Williamson on Prithvi Shaw when I’d gone to cover the BP XI vs New Zealand match just exactly a year ago: “I can’t believe he’s only 17. He has a promising career ahead.“
Now Shaw is all set to make his national debut. How things can turn around in a year. #INDvWI

Really looking forward to see how Virat Kohli grooms Prithvi Shaw. As a captain, his legacy won’t just be the trophies he wins. https://t.co/qCENOhvdUB

देखो Prithvi Shaw तुम्हारा नाम भी छोटा है और दर्शन भी छोटे है पर देखना तुम काम बहुत बड़ा करोगे।

Giving Prithvi Shaw a go is well appreciated but don't you think Indian Management is creating a lot of uncertainty in players mind as they picked 4 bowlers against England and then now they need 5 against Windies.. Dropped Nair just after 300 runs and now dropped Vihari

Prithvi Shaw you don’t know me and you should not know me either.. But I am following your career for almost 8-10 years now. You and Sarfaraz was my choice for replacing Sach and Viru..Since your school days you… https://t.co/zF2CKGqidd

After Karun Nair's sad and insulting departure from the side, now Prithvi Shaw has been handed over the debut cap instead of Mayank Agarwal.
I admire Shaw but there needs to be certain level of clarity on how the team is picked. #Indiancricketteam #BCCI— its_my_vw (@velawrites_in) October 3, 2018
