Indian Cricket Team to Jet-Off for World Cup on 22nd May - Report

India National Cricket Team will fly to England and Wales for the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2019 on 22nd May, a report of Mumbai Mirror claims. Thus, the Men in Blue will leave for the venue after 10 days of the Indian Premier League. In fact, the Virat Kohli-led side will play their first warm-up match against New Zealand at the Oval on 25th May.

Furthermore, the ranked number two ODI side will play their second warm-up match against Bangladesh on 28th May at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The two-times champions will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5th at Southampton. Consequently, the Indian cricket team will have 13 days to get themselves acclimatise to the conditions.

India will like to get acclimatised to the English conditions.

Meanwhile, India’s World Cup squad will be announced before April 23. In fact, any changes to the squad can be made before April 30.

Indian Premier League performances can play a key role in national selection. However, chief selector MSK Prasad and Indian captain Virat Kohli have denied picking players on IPL performances.

In fact, there are still doubts over the number four position. Ambati Rayudu is expected to fill in the big shoes. However, he didn’t have the best of series against Australia which has put an uncertainty over his selection.

On the other hand, the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League will kickstart from 23rd March with reigning champions Chennai Super Kings locking horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chepauk Stadium.

Furthermore, India will play their second World Cup match against defending champions Australia on 9th June. They will play their third World Cup match against New Zealand on June 13. They are expected to take on their arch-nemesis Pakistan on June 16, but there are still question marks over the match.
