The social media has brought the cricketers and fans closer than ever. The digital platform has bridged the big gap between the two worlds and has allowed them to interact with each other on a consistent basis. But then again every coin has two sides and social media is not an exception either.

While the platforms have allowed the cricketers to interact with their fans on a daily basis, it has also made them face unpleasant situations on several occasions. Something similar happened with former Australia batsman Dean Jones on Twitter on Wednesday.

The former cricketer-turned-commentator is currently in Mumbai as a part of Star Sports’ team for the ongoing IPL 2020 in UAE. Dean Jones is one of the most active cricketers on social media and interacts with the fans on a regular basis. One has seen replying to the fans’ queries on a daily basis.

Unsurprisingly, he is one of the most popular cricketers among the fans on Twitter. But on Wednesday, Dean Jones realised not every cricket fan likes him and he realised it in a rude manner.

The man took to Twitter to criticise Dean Jones. Calling the Australian ‘the most annoying commentator ever’, he urged Star Sports to dismiss him ASAP.

“Dean Jones is the most annoying commentator ever. Seems like a very annoying person as well. @StarSportsIndia needs to dismiss him ASAP, else the #IPL2020 needs to be watched on mute,” wrote the man.

Dean Jones’ reply:

Well, the Australia great noticed the tweet and he decided to reply to it too. And it is safe to say his reply must have left the man red-faced as the former cricketer asked him to watch IPL 2020 on mute.

“Glad you are watching… just hit the cool mute button,” wrote Dean Jones.
