The recent terror attack on the Indian soldiers in Pulwama has created a stir countrywide as a Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden car into a CRPF bus, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded. On the back of it, India have cut several ties with the neighbouring country, and now the fans want foreigners who are plying their trade in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) should not be allowed to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The bus was on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Lethpora town, about 30 km from Srinagar when the attack took place. The entire nation mourned the death of their brave sons who lost thier lives in the Terror attack. Following the attack, India swiftly withdrew Pakistan’s Most Favoured Nation status, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned that the perpetrators of the attack would pay a very heavy price.
Along with it, on Sunday, IMG-Reliance pulled out of its deal of television coverage of the ongoing PSL. Before IMGR, DSports also refused to broadcast any of the Pakistan games. The Indian National Cricket team players have also come in support of the jawans who lost their lives. In other show of protests, Cricket Club of India had covered the portrait of former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan in their restaurant. On Sunday, the PCA stadium in Mohali had removed the pictures of the Pakistani players.
Ban on foreign cricketers playing in PSL?
And now a handful of fans in the social media has called for a ban on overseas cricketers who are playing in the ongoing PSL. They have demanded BCCI and IPL governing council to look into this matter immediately. However, this looks like an absurd demand from the fans as those cricketers have no hand in it and is concentrating on doing their job they do the best.
