Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara took time out to interact with his fans on the social media platform Twitter and was asked by a cricket portal to name his favorite overseas Test victory. The veteran batter picked India’s amazing 3-wicket win over Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane during the 2020-21 tour of Australia.
Cheteshwar Pujara was one of the few big-name and experienced players who played in that Test match which was the fourth encounter of the captivating series which started with India losing the first match in Adelaide which was a day-night encounter with a pink ball. India then captained by Virat Kohli, were bowled out for their lowest Test score of 36 in that match.
Kohli then returned home for the birth of his first child and Ajinkya Rahane took over the reins and led from the front in the second Test in Melbourne’s MCG, scoring a century and helping India win by 8 wickets.
The third Test in Sydney ended in a draw with Rishabh Pant’s belligerent 97 almost giving Australia a heart attack as India chased 407 runs to win. It was only for Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, and Ravichandran Ashwin to save the game for India from then on, which they did in the end.

All things came to a head in the fourth and final Test in Gabba in Brisbane, where Australia had not lost a Test since 1988. Shubman Gill showed class batting with his sublime 91 and then Rishabh Pant took over and with help from Cheteshwar Pujara’s 56 and cameos from Washington Sundar (22) ad Ajinkya Rahane (24), led India to a famous win remaining unbeaten on 89*.
