IND vs SL 2017: Know How India Would Reach to No. 1 in ODI Rankings?

Indian Cricket Team will have a chance to reach on the top of ICC team rankings of they whitewash Sri Lanka at home.

The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka could take the hosts to the number one position in the ICC ODI team rankings, if India could whitewash the Lankans in the three-match series.

The number one ranked team in the Test format is currently at the second spot in the ODI’s with 120 points; only one point behind South Africa. India can overtake South Africa in the rankings if they win the first match in Dharamshala on December 10th.

India will reach 121 points in the rankings if they win the first ODI and will edge past South Africa on decimal points.

However, the hosts will have to win the remaining two matches in Mohali and Vishakhapatnam on 13th and 17th December if they want to stay at the top of the rankings.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is eighth in the rankings with 83 points. India will slip to 119 points even if the hosts win the series 2-1. Sri Lanka will remain at 83 points despite losing the series 3-0 but can move up to 87 points if they manage to win the series 3-0.

The Indian team has been on a fantastic run on home soil and has not lost a series since they last lost the ODI series to South Africa in 2015.
