INDW vs AUSW 2018: All Round Effort from Ellyse Perry Wins the Series for Australia

Australia banked on Ellyse Perry’s all-round performance to sweep of the series. Perry followed her unbeaten knock of 70 runs with two wickets, as India fell 60 runs shorts.

India skipper Mithali Raj, who came back after missing the first game opted to bowl first after winning the toss.

Australia out up strong start, as the opening pair added 54 runs for the first wicket. Centurion from the last match, Nicole Bolton played another gem of an innings, as the Aussie looked good to go past 300.

However, Australia lost two quick wickets of Meg Lanning (24) and Bolton (84), as they strived at 143 for three. Since then, Ellyse Perry took on the baton from Bolton to post a challenging total.

Perry remained unbeaten on 70 with the help of six boundaries and two sixes. Beth Mooney provided with a timely fifty, as Australia posted 287 runs on the board.

Although Shikha Pandey picked three wickets, she went for plenty. Leg-spinner Poonam Yadav also bagged two wickets but failed to contain runs, as the visitors went close to the 300-run mark.

However, in reply, India was badly hurt by the collapse in the middle-order. India got off to a flier with Smriti Mandhana and Punam Raut adding 87 runs for the first wicket.

However, Mandhan departed after scoring 67 runs off just 53 balls. Since then, India failed to get going, as they lost wickets on a regular basis.

Skipper Raj failed to bring India in winning ways, as she departed scoring 15 runs. Harmanpreet also failed to capitalise on the start, as she got out scoring 17 runs. Although Pooja Vastrakar added 30 runs down the order, she ran out of partners.

The Aussie bowlers were absolutely brilliant with every bowler taking her name to the wicket list.

They bowled some tight line and length, as Indian batters succumbed to pressure. Jess Jonassen continued her runs, as she claimed three crucial wickets.

Perry followed her brilliant knock with two wickets, as Australia won the second game convincingly. These two teams will face again on March 18 for the last and final game.
