Injured Smriti Mandhana Loses Top Spot To Amy Satterthwaite In The Latest ODI Rankings

Team India opener Smriti Mandhana, who missed the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa owing to injury has lost her top spot in the latest ICC ODI Rankings. New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite has leapfrogged the Indian star to occupy the pinnacle position.
Mandhana sustained a fracture in her right toe after getting hit by a ball during a net session ahead of the start of the ODI series. Smriti Mandhana, who has 755 points to her name slipped to the second spot to the Kiwi batter Satterthwaite.

Meanwhile, India produced a clean effort to enforce a whitewash on South Africa. The host defeated the Proteas 3-0 after beating them in the Twenty20 series as well. Among others batters, skipper Mithali Raj moved down to the seventh spot while her Harmanpreet Kaur rose in the rankings to the occupy the 17th place.

Although India registered a massive win over South Africa, the players didn’t have a great time considering the latest rankings. Bowlers Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey and Poonam Yadav moved down to be placed sixth, eighth and ninth respectively.

On the other hand, all-rounders Deepti Sharma has moved down to the third place while Shikha Pandey made a return to the top 10. India will hope to keep up their winning run considering the upcoming World T20 in view. They will also hope Smriti Mandhana to regain fitness soon and come back to the scheme of things.
