Internal Committee Gives Clean Chit To TNPL On Fixing Charges

The three-member internal committee formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to probe into the fixing charges against players and coaches during the 2019 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) have found no actionable incidents of wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, the three-member committee includes former India leg-spinner L. Sivaramakrishnan, P. Raghu Raman (senior advocate) and Nanjil Kumaran (former Commissioner of Police, Chennai). The panel submitted their report to TNCA’s new president Rupa Gurunath.

TNCA in their report said that that committee in their findings have not found any actionable incidents during the 2019 edition of TNPL. The report also added that they have accepted the report.

“The report of the committee which went into the information made available to the TNPL has been studied by us. We have decided to accept the report which has opined that no actionable incidents had been noticed,” TNCA said in a report.
The three-member committee has also made recommendations to uphold and safeguard the integrity of the TNPL. The Laxman Sivaramakrishnan-led panel has urged the apex body to increase vigil during the group games to curtail down the allegations of fixing.

RS Ramasaamy, secretary of the TNCA said that they will hold classes for the players to educate them to stay away from the ill elements. The classes will also teach the players the consequences of being a corrupt cricketer.

“Player education is very important. We will educate them on the ills of keeping touch with unwanted elements of the game. We will educate the importance of making the game corruption-free. We will also let the players understand the consequences of being corrupt,” the official said.
