Captains are the torch-bearers of a team. Their decisions, right from the toss, to field setting and bowlers to use in the death and in crucial situations makes all the difference. Captaincy should also not add pressure on a player. We have seen in the history of game, a lot of players, succumb to the pressure of captaincy. At present, we have seen some fine captains, but teams do have better option to select from.
Here we take a look at International Teams Who Have Better Players To Lead Than Present Captains:
Ben Stokes
England have split captaincy in Tests and limited-overs. Joe Root leads the side in the longest format while Eoin Morgan is in charge of the limited-overs sides. Ben Stokes, is a fine contender, to lead England across formats. He is aggressive, and can imbibe that in the team, and allow his players express themselves in a better manner. Moreover, he might be seen as a stand-in captain in the series against the West Indies in July.
Steve Smith
Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma has proved his captaincy skills in the IPL. He is the most successful captain in the lucrative tournament ahead of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Kohli is an aggressive captain and can lift the morale of the side. But in crucial situation he has been seen speaking with his fellow cricketers asking for suggestions, which includes Rohit Sharma. It is hence that, Rohit Sharma can be top-contender for captaincy for India across formats.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim has contributed for Bangladesh national team from the fore but did not get enough time as a captain. He led the side between 2009 and 2010 and is a bright prospect, giving his experience and understanding of the game to lead the side again. Bangladesh currently have Mominul Haque as the Test captain while Shakib Al Hasan leads the limited-overs side.
