IPL 2018: BCCI Announces List of 578 Players For the Auction

A total of 1122 players have registered their name for the IPL auction 2018.

BCCI, today, announced a list of 578 players who will be going under the hammer on the auction day. Out of 578, a total of 360 players are Indians.

A total of 16 players have been put on the marquee players list. Joe Root, who will be entering the IPL auction for the first time, is also one of the players in the marquee list.

A total of 10 players out of 578 are from Afghanistan, which includes Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Zahir Khan to name a few. Paul Stirling in the lone name from Ireland. The name of Chirag Suri of UAE is absent from the list. Last year, he became the first player from UAE to be signed up by an IPL team. He was a part of Gujarat Lions.

Arjun Nair, the former Australia U19 player who is of Indian origin, has also thrown his hat in the ring for the first time. He is currently playing Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder.

Mitchell Starc will be making a comeback to the T20 league this year. He was a part of RCB in IPL 2017 but withdrew from the T20 league. South Africa pacer, Lungi Ngidi – who bagged Man of the Match in debut Test against India – too is included in the list and is expected to bag a big contract.

Anukul Roy, the highest wicket-taker for India U19 in the ongoing tournament, has been a late addition to the list. His name was not on the list earlier. Delhi’s Manjot Kalra too has been added to the list.

The auction for the upcoming IPL season will take place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore. Here is the list of players:
