The explosive limited-overs specialist New Zealand opener Colin Munro has set his eyes on the impending Indian Premier League’s (IPL) players’ auction 2018 which is taking place on January 27 and 28 respectively in Bengaluru.
“The IPL is a lottery,” Munro’s wife Tehere told New Zealand Herald.
Recently, the Durban-born 30-year-old Munro has been in red-hot form for the Black Caps of late which has further seen him topping the Twenty20 International rankings.
“We’ve been in this game long enough to know that you never know what’s going to happen,” Tehere added.
In 2016, Munro has featured in the ninth edition of the IPL which saw him playing just four games for the Twenty20 league franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the recent past, the widely-acclaimed league has changed the fortunes of the players while dealing the massive contracts and Munro has set himself up for the all-important bidding procedure.
“It’s a fickle time. If he goes well, awesome; if not, we’ll ride the wave another year,” Tehere further added.
Interestingly, the hard-hitting Munro has recently become the first T20I batsman to register three hundreds in the T20.
Moreover, the left-handed batsman Munro had also been the part of Mumbai Indians.
In 2002, Munro had moved to New Zealand alongside his family before making the first-class debut for Auckland in December 2006.
“We got out of South Africa when we could. It’s a beautiful country but there’s a lot of crime,” Munro maintained.
Munro, who has impressed the national selectors, went on to add he is missing the friends and family members from his country of birth Durban.
“Besides, there are South African shops everywhere in Auckland now. The main things I miss are family and close mates,” Munro said.
The prominent face Munro, who has demolished the top-bowling attack, has already enjoyed his stint on the Caribbean soil.
“I was working full-time until the Caribbean League last year, but felt I was burning the candle at both ends with two children, so reduced my hours,” Munro asserted.
In four IPL games, Munro scored just 30 at an unimpressive average of 10, as he has further hailed the contribution of former Kiwis skipper Brendon McCullum for shaping him up.
