Dwayne Bravo

Chennai Super Kings bought West Indies star Dwayne Bravo for Rs 6.4 crore.

Bravo started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians and played for them for the first three seasons. He was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings during 2011 IPL Auctions and had gone on to become one of their top performing players. He had scored 461 runs at an average of 57 off a strike rate of 178 and was also the team’s highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets.

He also performed well in the 2013 IPL playing for Chennai Super Kings, taking 32 wickets at an average of 9.15 to win the Purple Cap and become Chennai Super Kings’s leading wicket-taker. In 2015, he took 26 wickets and won the purple cap for the second time. After the suspension of Chennai Super Kings for two years, he was bought by Gujarat Lions.

The West Indies star, who has played in almost all the major T20 leagues across the globe, recently became the first bowler to cross the 400-wicket mark in the shortest format of the game when he took 5 for 28 while playing for Melbourne Renegades against Hobart Hurricanes last month in the ongoing Big Bash League.

The feat is nothing less than remarkable one considering only two others – Lasith Malinga and Sunil Narine – have passed the 300-mark and are well behind Bravo on the list. Malinga has taken 331 wickets so far while Bravo’s compatriot Narine has picked up 307. He has also scored over 5,000 T20 runs.
