IPL 2018: Gary Kirsten Credits Duncan Fletcher for Virat Kohli's Success

Former India coach and South Africa cricketer, Gary Kirsten has credited Duncan Fletcher for the success of India skipper, Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Kirsten is one of the most sought-after personality in Indian cricket, as they won the 2011 World Cup under his coaching. Kirsten took over the reigns after a disastrous stint of Greg Chappell and took India to greater heights.
The men in blues under his coaching and captaincy of MS Dhoni had gone to a whole new level. Moreover, he had helped the players settle in and backed young talents.
Fletcher responsible for Kohli’s success
Meanwhile, his reign ended with the 2011 World Cup triumph and former Zimbabwean cricketer Ducan Fletcher took over the responsibilities.
Gary complimented Fletcher and Kohli’s for the success of India.
“I think Duncan Fletcher and MS Dhoni played a huge role in creating an environment for young players to thrive. This has really helped younger players to deal with the trials and tribulations of international competition,” Kirsten said to TOI.
Kirsten, despite achieving so much failed to replicate it in the Indian Premier League. He worked as the head coach of the Delhi Daredevils and this season; he’s working with the Royal Challengers Bangalore as the batting consultant.
“Not every environment is suited to one’s coaching style and philosophy.Although coaches success depends on the results of a team, the bigger picture often reflects what kind of an impact a coach had on a player. We as coaches often take more pleasure out of watching individuals thrive under one’s leadership,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, RCB has had a poor start this season with two wins from five games. However, they will look to continue the gained momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
