Delhi Daredevils’ priced possession in the IPL, Chris Morris, was recently compared to KKR’s retention, Andre Russell, by their newly appointed skipper Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir, who led Russell in three seasons of IPL, claimed that Morris is a yard quicker than the West Indian. Further, Gambhir suggested that Russell is a better batsman but given the opportunity, a striker like Morris can shine up the order.

Since his move to the Daredevils after serving the Royals and Superkings, the Protean usually added extra 30 runs at a fair clip lower down the order.

Morris is a quality all-rounder and a better and much quicker bowler than Russell. Russell is a little bit of a better batsman, he can change the game more consistently with the bat. But with Morris, I felt he has batted lower than he should have. He hasn’t had enough opportunity,” quoted Gautam Gambhir according to Sportskeeda.

Gambhir indicates that Morris might bat up the order

Russell has been retained by KKR for the upcoming seasons.

With his statements, Gambhir indicated that one might expect the South Africans to bat up the order, given the fact that the southpaw experimented with Russell’s position at Kolkata Knight Riders.

But for a game changer to make a change in the game you need to give him enough opportunity as well. At times we have pushed Russell to bat at number 3 and 4 depending on what the situation is. If you have wickets in hand, you rather push someone after the 10 overs,” suggested the spirited captain.

Moreover, Morris also has the ability to constantly hit the 150-k mark which goes to show his al round abilities.

“Delhi has played him at number 6-7, which is lower than where he should be batting at because he’s a proper batsman. Moreover, he can also bowl in the powerplay and in the last 4 overs,” concluded Gautam Gambhir.
