The eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is now on the verge of coming to an end.

The season will end on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium. Two of the most consistent teams of this season – Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad – will fight it out for the top prize.

Just like the last ten seasons, the soon-to-end season was as exciting as one could think of. Records were made and shattered; unknown players made their mark, some big names flopped, as this season too lived upto the reputation the IPL has built in its decade-long history.

Now with the season coming to an end, the pundits and fans have been busy compiling their best eleven of the season. Well, renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, in his interview with Cricbuzz, also revealed his team of the season.

As expected, there were some big surprises. Bhogle surprisingly left out Virat Kohli and Andrew Tye. While Kohli amassed 430 runs this season, Tye is still the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps to his name.

However, their showing was just not good enough to get into Bhogle’s team.

At the top, Bhogle went with Kings XI Punjab opener, KL Rahul who amassed a total of 659 runs at an average of 54.91.

Giving him company was a surprise name in the form of Kolkata Knight Riders star Sunil Narine who had a strike rate of 189.89 as an opener.

At number three, he opted for the current orange cap holder and the dependable Kane Williamson. The Sunrisers Hyderabad needs just 12 runs in the final to reach the 700-run mark.

At number four, Bhogle went with Delhi Daredevils’ explosive batsman Rishabh Pant. The hard-hitting keeper-batsman scored a staggering 684 runs which also included stunning innings of 128*.

Pant is followed by two more wicketkeepers in the form of Knight Riders skipper, Dinesh Karthik and Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni.

At number seven, Bhogle opted for another Knight Riders player in the form of Windies powerhouse, Andre Russell and followed that up with Sunrisers Hyderabad leg-spinner Rashid Khan.
