Current captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kane Williamson, recently revealed it is an impossible task to replace someone like David Warner in the team.

David Warner was one-third of the disgraced Australian trio who got banned by the Cricket Australia (CA) due to the ball-tampering scandal which rocked the cricketing world a couple of months back in March.

After Cricket Australia (CA) imposed the one-year ban each on Steven Smith and Warner, the two were not allowed by Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Governing Council to take part in this season of IPL.

As a result, the onus of captaincy relied on New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson who made sure the absence of Warner didn’t hamper Hyderabad camp.

Williamson guided his team to several victories already this season, with the bat as well as his captaincy. Although, the Kiwi conceded the work done by Warner would be difficult to emulate.

We are looking at improvement and not perfection, says Kane Williamson.

I don’t think it’s a matter of replacing David Warner. I think that’s probably an impossible thing to do. He is one of the best T20 batters in the world. And also for this franchise in the last few years,” Kane Williamson told Times of India.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, along with Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab, is currently amongst the table-toppers of the league stages and are favourites to clinch the IPL this season.

It’s nice to be on top of the table. But at the same time, I mentioned a number of times that we want to keep seeing those improvements. Keep adapting to the different surfaces that we would be faced with in every game,” mentioned the Kiwi.

The next assignment for Sunrisers Hyderabad is to continue with their winning momentum against visitors Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.
