Many of the franchises spend a hefty amount of money on young promising talents.
Some of the lesser-known cricketers were brought to notice, and the team management backed them during the IPL auction, which took place in Bangalore on 26th and 27th January. The Rajasthan Royals played smart with their buys once again and retained their core with the likes of Steven Smith, Ajinkya Rahane and Ben Stokes.
The Royals picked 20-year-old Aryaman for INR 30 lakhs. Interestingly, the youngster is the son of businessman Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group. The cricketer had played just one match for Madhya Pradesh and scored 22 runs in two innings.
Aryaman Shares his Thoughts
Aryaman took to Twitter to thank the owners and cricket fans for their support. The Royals are making a comeback after a gap of two years.
“Just want to thank the Rajasthan Royals for buying me at the IPL auctions. Being a part of this team is a real honour and an amazing opportunity for me. I think there is going to be so much to learn from a lot of amazing people around the team. So I am really looking forward to a brilliant IPL season and just want to thank Rajasthan Royals once again,” he said.
Big Opportunity
The youngster will share the dressing room with some of the biggest sporting stars.
“It is a huge learning curve for me. For a young cricketer, this is a huge opportunity, and I am really excited to be part of the side and share the dressing room with so many legends,” Aryaman was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
Even though one would say that Aryaman was born with a silver spoon, he wasn’t getting ample opportunities in Mumbai and therefore had to shift his base.
“I moved to MP some three years ago. I wasn’t getting opportunities in Mumbai, and that’s when I got a chance to play for Rewa district in MP. Even coming to that team was not easy; I had to perform to book a place. I am glad I did that,” Aryaman said.
