The reigning champions, Mumbai Indians will lock horns against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in the 27th match of IPL 2018.

Not many would have thought that the defending champions will find themselves in choppy waters at the halfway stage of the league matches.

Rohit Sharma-led team has managed a solitary win thus far in the season, as they are at the bottom of the points table. Unfortunately, they will have their work cut out, as they will take on the table leader CSK.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni-led side is riding high on confidence, as they have found success in five matches out of the six.

Mumbai Indians have forgotten to run in the 100-meter race even after the referee has blown the whistle. Thus, Men in Blue are lacking behind the opponents, and they need to catch up soon before all hope of making the finishing line is gone.

They have started like a Tortoise in that famous Rabbit-Tortoise story. Subsequently, they will have to pull off the miracle.

One thing that would give them confidence is the belief that they have bounced back from a similar position in the past.

Here is a look at the Predicted Playing XI of the Mumbai Indians.

Evin Lewis hasn’t yet fired at all cylinders. The Windies southpaw batsman will like to contribute more at the top of the order.

It is almost a must-win encounter for the Mumbai Indians, and thus their skipper should promote himself up the order. Rohit will have to lead from the front, and he should try to face the maximum balls.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan has also impressed with his batting as well, as his keeping skills. The southpaw batsman has been able to contribute in almost every match. Though, he played a needless shot to get dimissed in the last game against SRH.

Mumbai Indians is missing a reliable batsman in the middle order. They haven’t yet given a chance to JP Duminy. The Proteas veteran batsman should get drafted in the playing XI to put things to balance for them.

Kieron Pollard

Mumbai Indians will look to stay alive in the tournament.

Kieron Pollard is batting down the order which is not justifiable to the T20 credentials in his resume. Mumbai Indians should try to make the most of the power-hitting capabilities of the Windies all-rounder.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya hasn’t been able to find his form thus far. The Indian all-rounder had a perfect opportunity in the last match but could not live up to the expectations.

Mayank Markande has been the find of the season thus far. The leg-spinner has scalped ten wickets in the six matches, as he is currently the second highest wicket-getter of the season.

Mustafizur Rahman has utilised his off-spin variation with all the guile. The Bangladesh bowler had bowled an economical spell in the last match.
