Bouncing back strongly from the defeat in their last game, Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Daredevils to move to the top of the points table. Put in to bat first, the Super Kings posted a daunting 211 for 4. Shane Watson and MS Dhoni starred with the bat, scoring quick fifties. Watson scored 78 off 40 while Dhoni blasted 51 off just 22.

In reply, Daredevils were off to a shaky start and were reduced to 74 for 4. Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar then scored quick fifties to revive the chase. However, it was not enough as Delhi were restricted to 198 for 5.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:

1. This was the 16th time the Super Kings scored a 200-plus total in the IPL. These are the most number of times a team scored  200-plus total in the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore are second in the list, having scored 14 totals of 200-plus in the IPL.

2. Liam Plunkett was taken to cleaners right from his first over. As a result, the English pacer ended up conceding 52 runs off just three overs. His economy-rate of 17.33 is the third worst in an IPL inning of three and more overs. Mitchell Marsh and Harshal Patel conceded 56 runs in the three overs they bowled for Pune Warriors India and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

3. MS Dhoni reached his fifty off just 22 balls. This is his second fastest fifty in the IPL and the third fastest in the Twenty20 format. His fastest fifty came off 16 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in now-scrapped Champions League T20 in 2013.

4. Chennai Super Kings became the second team to win 100 T20 games. Last year, Mumbai Indians became the first team to achieve the incredible record.

5. Daredevils’ total of 198 for 5 is their highest total in the IPL against CSK. Their previous highest was 189/5 which they scored way back in 2009. This is also their highest IPL total coming in a losing cause surpassing 194/9 they scored against Bangalore in 2012.

6. Super Kings’ total of 211/4 is the highest T20 total in Pune. They surpassed Delhi Daredevils‘ total of 205/4 which they scored last year against Rising Pune Supergiant.

7. Dhoni has now scored 3557 runs in IPL as skipper. Dhoni is now the leading run-scorer in IPL as captain. Dhoni went past Gautam Gambhir’s tally of 3518 runs.
