IPL 2018: Match 31, Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians - Statistical Highlights

Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 14-run win over defending champions Mumbai Indians. Put in to bat first on a tough Chinnaswamy pitch, the Royal Challengers put up a competitive 167 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Manan Vohra top-scored for the hosts, scoring 45. In reply, Mumbai Indians were off to a disastrous start, reduced to 21 for 3.  Hardik Pandya scored a fifty but the defending champions were eventually restricted to 153 for 7.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:

1. Hardik Pandya is now the joint leading wicket-taker this season. As many as five bowlers have now 11 wickets to their name. Apart from Pandya, the other 4 bowlers are Siddarth Kaul, Mayank Markande, Umesh Yadav and Trent Boult.

2. Virat Kohli scored 32. During the course of the innings, he became the player with most singles this season. The Royal Challengers skipper has scored 113 runs in singles. He is followed by Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu (108) and Kane Williamson (103). Only these three players have managed to cross the 100-mark in this regard

3. Hardik Pandya became the first player this season and 12th overall to score a fifty and take three wickets in an IPL game. Yuvraj Singh leads this list, having achieved the feat on three occasions.

4. Kohli overtook Suresh Raina as the leading run-scorer in the IPL. Kohli has now scored 4758 runs compared to Raina’s 4744 runs.

5. Kohli came out to bat at number four for Royal Challengers. This was the first time he batted at that position since 24 May 2014.  The game was against Chennai Super Kings where he had scored 73 off 49.

6. The game saw a total of 18 wides conceded. It is the joint second most in the IPL. The most numbers of wides (19) were conceded during the game between Kings XI Punjab and Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011.
