IPL 2018: Match 33, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings – Statistical Highlights
Kolkata Knight Riders decimated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets to register their fifth win of the season. Dinesh Karthik decision to bowl first backfired initially as Super Kings were off to a flying start. At 91 for 1 in the eleventh over, the MS Dhoni-led side were looking set to post a huge score. However, Knight Riders took some quick wickets to stem the flow of runs. In the end, Dhoni played a fine knock of 43 to help his side finish on a competitive 177 for 5.
In reply, Knight Riders chased down the score with utmost ease in the 18th over. Shubman Gill starred with the bat, scoring his maiden IPL fifty to guide his team to a crucial one. The youngster remained unbeaten on 57 and was well supported by Karthik (45 not out). The duo shared an unbeaten partnership of 83 runs to take their team home comfortably.

1. Knight Riders spinner became the first player to take 50 wickets in the IPL for two different teams. He took 84 wickets for Kings XI Punjab before completing 50-wicket mark for his current side.
2. Chawla became the second player after Sunil Narine (105) to take 50 wickets for Knight Riders in the IPL.
3. At the age of 18 years and 237 days, Gill became the fourth youngest player to score a fifty in the IPL. He also became the fifth player to score an IPL fifty before turning 19.
4. MS Dhoni has faced 57 balls from Sunil Narine in the IPL but is yet to hit a boundary. No other player has faced 50 and more balls from a bowler and has not been able to hit a boundary in the IPL. Dhoni has scored only 29 off the 57 balls he faced from Narine without being dismissed.
5. Dhoni is now the second player after Suresh Raina (157) to hit 150 sixes for Super Kings in the IPL.
6. Karthik scored his 45 runs at a strike-rate of 250. This is the highest batting strike rate in an IPL inning for a Knight Riders captain. Gautam Gambhir was the only other Knight Riders skipper to maintain a strike rate of over 200 in an IPL inning when he scored 32 off just 16 against his current side Delhi Daredevils in 2012.
