IPL 2018: Match 45, Delhi Daredevils vs Royal Challengers Bangalore – Statistical Highlights
Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their slim playoffs alive with a convincing 5-wicket victory over Delhi Daredevils. Asked to bat first, the Daredevils scored a competitive 181 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. In-form Rishabh Pant continued making merry with the bat as he once again top-scored for the Daredevils. The hard-hitting southpaw scored 61 off just 34 balls before Abhishek Sharma’s 19-ball 46 gave the finishing touch to the innings.
However, Daredevils’ bowlers once again failed to complement their batsmen’s effort.Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers scored fifties to guide Royal Challengers to an impressive win. Kohli scored 70 while the Proteas star scored 72 as Royal Challengers reached home with an over remaining.

1. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane became the first-ever player from Nepal to play an IPL game. Earlier this year, he had become the first Nepali player to be picked by a team in the IPL auction.
2. At 17 years and 283 days, Lamichhane became the second youngest player to play an IPL game. Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman made his IPL debut at the age of 17 years and 11 days for Kings XI Punjab earlier this season.
3. Delhi Daredevils included Abhishek Sharma, Lamichanne and Prithvi Shaw in their playing eleven. All the three players are aged under 19. This is the first time an IPL team fielded with three players aged less than 19 in a playing XI.
4. AB de Villiers has now received 17 Man of the Match awards in the IPL. Only Chris Gayle (20) has more such awards than the Proteas star in the IPL.
5. Rishabh Pant has hit a staggering 31 sixes so far this season. His tally is the most by any player in the ongoing season and also the most by a Daredevils player in a single IPL edition. Pant’s sixes are the second most by an Indian in an IPL season behind Kohli’s 38 in 2016.
6. Pant has so far scored 582 runs this season. These are the most number of runs scored by a Daredevils player in an IPL season. He surpassed Gautam Gambhir’s 534 runs that he scored in the 2008 edition.
7. Virat Kohli took 26 balls to reach his fifty. It is his joint-fastest in the Twenty20 format. He scored a fifty off 26 balls against Rajasthan Royals earlier this season.
8. Kohli has now scored 761 runs against the Daredevils. In the process, he became the first player to score 700 IPL runs against Daredevils.
9. Amit Mishra became the fifth player and the third spinner after Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla to deliver 1000 dot balls in IPL history. The leggie has now bowled 1002 dots in the league.
