Young leg-spinner from Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane is hopeful to give his premium best for his franchise Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, Lamichhane impressed with his wrist spin trait in whatever limited opportunities he got. He has picked five wickets from three games and played a massive role as Delhi finish the league on a high.
On Sunday (May 20) night, he along with fellow leg-spinner Amit Mishra spoiled Mumbai Indians’ party of making it to the playoffs. The duo bagged six wickets as Mumbai fell short of just 11 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
Although Hardik Pandya (27) and Ben Cutting (37) tried their best but it wasn’t enough to cross the line.
Previously, Delhi posted a staggering total of 174 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Rishabh Pant once again led the Delhi unit with a well made 64 off 44 deliveries. All-rounder Vijay Shankar, who found his form in the latter half of the league also contributed with 43 crucial runs.
However, it will be a learning curve for the young leg-spinner and he will only grow in confidence.
Hopes to come back strong:
In a post-match conversation with his teammate Amit Mishra, the 17-year-old spinner admitted that it is a great feeling to finish on a high. He also lauded Mishra for his outstanding spell of three for 19.
“It is a great feeling to finish the league on a possitive note. (I) really enjoyed your bowling and it was fantastic to see how you were getting something positive out of everything. It was a great match,” Lamichhane said to Mishra for IPLt20.com
Further, he credited everybody for the win against the reigning champions. He also longed for creating magic for Delhi next year along with the veteran Mishra.
“This was a huge experience for me learning from each and everybody in the squad. I hope to create magic Delhi along with you next year,” he added.
In conclusion, Sandeep Lamichhane said that he will use this experience in Nepal Cricket and he along with his teammates will like to take Nepal cricket higher.
