The second Qualifier of the Playoffs played between Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders belonged to one man, named Rashid Khan.
Afghanistan and Sunrisers’ prized possession, took his side single-handedly with his standout performances in all three departments of the game and helped SRH beat KKR by 13 runs at the Eden Gardens.
SRH were in all sorts of trouble with their batting effort, reeling at 138-7, with all their batsmen back in the hut.
However, Rashid played one of the best knocks of the tournament, by scoring a rapid ten-ball 34.
The focus was to play straight – Rashid
“It was much needed for me, just tried my best to give 100% in bowling, batting and fielding. Full focus was to believe in my skills. Very happy with the batting today which was needed at the end. Started my career as a batsman, and I have the belief,” said the man of the match, Rashid Khan.
The Afghan teenage sensation took the SRH score from the expected 150 to a match-winning 175. Just when the Knights thought they witnessed the best of Rashid, he came back to haunt the host with the ball.
Rashid Khan took the big wickets of Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell, to take the game out of bounds from the hosts.
“Just try my best to look into the length and play according to the length. Focus was to play straight, that’s what the coaches said. So where the slower ball or anything, played straight and got runs,” continued Rashid.
Further, he grabbed a couple of crucial catches in the deep, and affected a runout and clinch the man of the match award hands down.
“Can’t have excuses in the fielding department. Just try to give my best. Working hard on that and it’s good so far. Want to dedicate my award to those people who lost their lives in a blast back home,” concluded Rashid Khan.
