IPL 2018: Tata Motors to reward safe catchers in the stands

Tata Motors, one of the leading motor companies in the world, has set a contract with Indian Premier League for a period of three years.

The company is all set to spent huge bucks during the domestic Twenty20 professional tournament.

As per a report in NBT, the company will reward a cash prize of INR one Lakh to the fan who takes a catch safely with one hand in the stands.

According to the specific guidelines, the catches should be pouched without any juggle.

The scheme is currently active in the home games of New Zealand and the safe catchers in the crowd are awarded $50,000. However, the conditions are applied same there as well.

The catcher has to pouch the ball with one hand and there should be no juggle as well. Along with awarding the public, the company is all set to rain awards on the players.

After every match, the player with highest strike-rate will get an award from the Tata Motors. The player having highest strike-rate at the end of the tournament will be awarded a luxurious car.

The trend is set to be continued for a period of three years as the company has signed the deal with one of the mega T20 leagues.

Meanwhile, the impending season of IPL is all set to kick off on April 7 in Mumbai.

The reigning champions Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings in the opener of the season at Wankhede Stadium.

The grand finale of the tournament will also be played at Wankhede Stadium on May 27.

MS Dhoni-led Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are making a comeback to IPL after serving a ban for two years. The teams were suspended owing to the 2013 IPL spot-fixing saga.

In other news related to the league, it has also been confirmed that six captains are all set to miss the opening ceremony of IPL due to logistical issues.

Since the opening ceremony is to take place on April 7, there will be no time for six captains viz Dinesh Karthik, Steven Smith, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, David Warner and R Ashwin to attend the ceremony.

Hence, the captains will give the ceremony a miss.

MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma will attend the event. The ceremony will take place before the start of the IPL opener in Mumbai.
