Washington Sundar, the India all-rounder, was sold to for an amount of Rs 3.2 Crore. Earlier, the franchises were reluctant to even call for a bid for him and it looked like he might go unsold but once he got his first bid, few of the franchises showed interest in him.

Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians went for him. However, Mumbi Indians withdrew soon and it was a direct contest between Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The two franchises continued to bid for a while and in the end, it was RCB that called for the final bid.

Sundar was the find of the last IPL when he was roped in by Rising Pune Supergiant as a replacement of R Ashwin. He went on to make it to the Indian team as well for the series against Sri Lanka. He made his ODI and T20I debut in the series. However, he was replaced by Kedar Jadhav for the ODI series against South Africa as soon as the latter got fit.

He was the second buy of the day for RCB after Mandeep Singh (Rs 1.4 Crore). RCB, later, also used their RTM card on Pawan Negi, who was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 1 Crore.
