Royal Challengers Bangalore had yet another poor season in Vivo IPL 2018. They yet again failed to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament and performed quite poorly for the major part of the tournament. After a few dismal performances, the team management decided to get rid of head coach Daniel Vettori. Even some of the support staffs were also removed. Bangalore will definitely look to make a comeback next year in an attempt to win their maiden IPL title.

They haven’t named their new head coach yet. However, there has been a few preferences which have been laid down by the franchise. Their top priority for the post of the head coach is current Indian assistant coach Sanjay Bangar. If this doesn’t materialize out, former India coach Gary Kirsten might also be appointed. However, nothing is sure as of now.

Now without wasting any time let us have a look at 3 possible faces who might take over the reign from Daniel Vettori

Sanjay Bangar

Royal Challengers Bangalore surprisingly wants Sanjay Bangar to be the head coach of the franchise. However, as of now, it is not quite possible as Bangar is part of the Indian team. He is currently the assistant coach behind Ravi Shastri and it doesn’t entitle him to mentor or coach any of the IPL franchises.

It is highly unlikely that Bangar will leave the post of the Indian national team and join the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, if anything materializes, Bangar will definitely be accommodated for the topmost post as he is the priority for Bangalore who is yet to win an IPL title in 11 years.

Gary Kirsten

The former South African batsman and the coach who led India to the 2011 World Cup victory might well be in contention for the topmost job of the franchise. He is definitely a proven material at the highest level and he tends to gel with the Indian players quite easily. He was part of the coaching staff for the Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL.

Kirsten without a doubt is one of the most loved cricketers in India. When he was in charge of the team, India managed to play freely and as a unit. Bangalore will look to appoint someone like him to make a turnaround in their fortunes in the 2019 edition of the tournament.

Zaheer Khan

The former Indian speedster might be in contention for the post if the first two doesn’t materialize. He is one of the finest bowlers India has ever produced and has the ability to mentor the young guns very well. He might be an option for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team management who just wants to find the right combination which might help them win their first ever tournament.

Zaheer was one of the most intelligent players during his heydays and will make sure that his team also plays like that if he is appointed the head coach of the franchise. However, it is too early to comment and only time will tell who is appointed as the new head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
