IPL 2019: Alzarri Joseph Roped in by Mumbai Indians as a Replacement for Adam Milne

Windies speedster Alzarri Joseph has been named as the replacement for Adam Milne who is out of IPL 12 due to a heel injury. Joseph will turn up for the three-time champions Mumbai Indians and will definitely look to make a mark in the tournament if he gets a chance during the course of the tournament. Alzarri Joseph is a special young talent who came into the reckoning during the 2017 Under 19 World Cup.
An IPL statement confirmed that Alzarri Joseph will join the Mumbai Indians squad. However, it is not sure whether Joseph will be available for Mumbai in the next couple of matches. Joseph has played 9 Tests and 16 ODI’s for the Windies so far.
“Mumbai Indians have picked Alzarri Joseph as a replacement for the injured fast bowler Adam Milne for the IPL 2019,” said the statement.
The young speedster has bagged 25 Test and 24 ODI wickets. He was in great form during the Test series against England bagging 10 wickets in the 3 match Test series.
If rules are taken into consideration, the amount paid to a replacement player cannot exceed the amount which was paid to the original player. Adam Mine was bought at the auctions for Rs 75 lakhs.
Mumbai Indians started off their IPL 12 campaign with a defeat against the Delhi Capitals. It was a special knock from the blade of Rishabh Pant which took DC to a mammoth total of 214 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The southpaw smashed a sensational 78 of just 27 deliveries. Mumbai was never in the run chase. Yuvraj Singh played well and scored a half-century in his debut game for the Mumbai Indians but the target was way too much in the end.
The three-time champions face Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 2nd game of the tournament later today. Both teams have some exceptional players in their ranks who have the ability to turn the complexion of the game within a single over. Captains from both teams will look to get back among runs and make it a memorable encounter.
