Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Rajasthan Royals have bagged the service of Windies pacer Oshane Thomas for the upcoming edition of the IPL. Listed in the base price of Rs 50 lakhs, Rajasthan and Kings XI Punjab started bidding for him; eventually, Rajasthan taking him home for Rs 1.10 crores.

Meanwhile, Oshane Thomas made his international debut during Windies’ tour of India in October and impressed with his pace, regularly clocking around 150 kmph. His senior bow came after he took 18 wickets in 10 matches during the 2018 Caribbean Premier League.

The 21-year-old generated enough pace from the placid Indian pitches to trouble established batsmen on their own turf earning, thus, comparisons with fabled Windies pacemen of past. The tall and lanky fast bowler is fast and furious and can rake up some good pace. Thomas will be a real handful for most batsmen in the IPL if he keeps bowling with the same venom.

Oshane Thomas has taken 26 wickets from 17 T20 matches at a strike rate of 14.3 and an economy rate of 8.27. With the possibility of IPL taking place in South Africa, Oshane Thomas can be a handy customer for the Rajasthan Royals. He will now join the likes of Jofra Archer and Dhawal Kulkarni in Royals fast bowling line-up.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will look to improv their effort from their last season’s effort as they finished fourth on the table. They picked up late as Jos Buttler’s brilliance with the bat helped them win back to back games. And now with another exciting season round the corner, they will be keen to better their performance.
