IPL 2019: BCCI to Further Delay the Schedule Annoucement - Report

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is further going to delay the announcement of the Indian Premier League 2019 schedule. Earlier, it was reported that the schedule is going to be announced on Monday, 4th February. However, it wasn’t to be the case. Now it is reported by Mumbai Mirror that the Indian board has delayed the announcement and the itinerary is expected to be out within a week’s time.

On the other hand, the twelfth season of the Indian Premier League is going to kickstart from March 23. The commencement is preponed due to the General Elections in the country.

IPL schedule is delayed by one week.

“We’re working closely with the Election Commission and all the authorities concerned and hopefully it will be out in a week,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by The Mumbai Mirror.

In fact, the schedule which will be announced can be changed accordingly to dates of the General Elections. The Lok Sabha elections will take place in April and May. The Election Commission has not yet confirmed the dates of the elections which has delayed the announcement of the IPL 2019 schedule.

However, the IPL is going to take place in India. Earlier it was reported that the IPL 2019 will be shifted outside the country but it wasn’t to be the case. In fact, the second season of the Indian Premier League 2009 took place in South Africa.

Furthermore, the first half of the 2014 season of the IPL was played in the UAE. This year could have been the same case but the BCCI has decided to host the domestic league in India.

The upcoming season of the IPL is also expected to get over early as the World Cup will begin from May 30.
