Hanuma Vihari, who is making a comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a gap of three years admitted that he is ready to take the field for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019. Delhi roped the services of the batting all-rounder for Rs 2 crores.

Meanwhile, Vihari is currently in a good space after almost cementing his berth in the Indian Test side. He has shown tremendous grit and determination to earn the trust of skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri. However, due to his poor strike-rate in the limited overs, he failed to attract any buyer in the cash-rich league. The last time he played an IPL game was in 2015 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In that edition, he played only five matches scoring just 39 runs.

In a great mental space

Delhi Capitals have a star-studded top order with Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, skipper Shreyas Iyer and the indomitable Rishabh Pant in the ranks. But Hanuma Vihari is ready to fight and admitted that he could do the job of a finisher the way he slotted in as the opener in Melbourne. Also, the 24-year-old cricketer noted that he is in a great mental space to prove everybody wrong.

Honestly, given that I am playing the IPL after a three-year gap, I am ready to go out there and bat anywhere the management asks me to, whether it’s at the top of the order, or in the role of a finisher.

On my part, I am really in a great mental space and a great position as far as my game is concerned. I am really well-prepared for everything right now,” Vihari said to PTI.

Delhi Capitals, previously known as Delhi Daredevils, will have a young captain in Shreyas Iyer. Hanuma Vihari seemed excited to take the field for Delhi and also revealed that he had developed a lot in these three years. The Capitals have a perfect blend of Indian and overseas cricketers, and they will target their first trophy in IPL 2019.

I am excited and fully ready for the season ahead with Delhi Capitals. Mainly because in these three years, I have developed so much as a player.

I am much more confident of performing now. Also, we have a great mix of Indian and foreign players. I am really looking forward to playing under Shreyas and Ricky’s (Ricky Ponting) leadership,” Vihari concluded.
