New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is currently in India plying his trade in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). He has had a good start to the tournament playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Kiwi pacer impressed with his brisk pace and played a crucial role in beating Kings XI Punjab last night.

Meanwhile, this is his second season in the IPL. Previously, he played four games for the Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 season claiming three wickets. The management wanted their overseas fast bowler in form after losing strike pacers ahead of the season. While the news of injury of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi came a week before, Anrich Nortje announced that he will not be a part of the tournament at the 11th hour. However, Lockie Ferguson has stood up and will have to continue his form throughout the season.

Dhawan is my inspiration: Ferguson

Besides, Ferguson’s stylish moustache has been the talking point of the town. He has grabbed eyeballs with his twirling moustache in and out of the cricket field. Speaking about it, Lockie Ferguson revealed that he has been keeping it for the last one-two years. However, he has only started twirling it this year and is happy that it stays during the game time.

“I have a moustache for a year or two but just this year I have started twirling the moustache to make sure it stays that way while I am playing. It is difficult to keep it up in sweaty weather conditions but I am happy that it lasts all day,” Ferguson said.

Speaking about his inspiration, Lockie Ferguson named Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who also had a good moustache. However, he has recently shaved it and is all clean now. But Ferguson said that he will urge Dhawan to grow his beard again when Kolkata Knight Riders face Delhi Capitals on March 30.

“Well, cricket has had a great history of great moustaches, upper lip fashion as we call it, and probably one of the national heroes I look up to is Shikhar Dhawan. When he was touring out New Zealand I was a big fan of his and hope he grows his moustache soon. I will encourage him to grow back his moustache when I play with Delhi Capitals next,” Ferguson concluded.
