Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) secured an impressive victory in their last match of IPL 2019 on Sunday (5th May) evening. In that match, they beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets (with 12 balls to spare) at Mohali.

The home team KXIP won the toss and decided to field first. The visiting side scored 170/5 (20 overs) in the first innings. Later, KXIP successfully chased down that target in 18 overs after losing four wickets.

ii) Faf du Plessis scored 96 runs in this match which is the third highest individual score by a CSK batsman against KXIP. The top two record holders are Michael Hussey (116* at Mohali on 19th April 2008) and Suresh Raina (100* at Chennai on 2nd May 2013).

iii) Faf du Plessis is the second overseas cricketer to score 1,500+ IPL runs for CSK (Michael Hussey was the first overseas cricketer). The Proteas cricketer has scored 1,557 IPL runs for CSK. Meanwhile, he is the fifth overall cricketer to score 1,500+ IPL runs for CSK.

iv) Suresh Raina becomes the second batsman to score 4,500+ IPL runs for a franchise. The first cricketer to achieve this feat was Virat Kohli (5,412 IPL runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore). Till the date, Raina has scored 4,503 IPL runs for CSK.

v) Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh had the bowling figures of 4-0-57-3. It is the joint second most expensive bowling figures by a CSK bowler. Palani Amarnath once had the bowling figures of 4-0-57-1 against Mumbai Indians at Chennai on 23rd April 2008. Meanwhile, the most expensive bowling figures are 4-0-58-0 by Mohit Sharma against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad (Deccan) on 2nd May 2015.

vi) The left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has picked up 106 IPL wickets. Before him, the former left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra also bagged 106 IPL wickets. No other left-arm bowlers have claimed these many IPL wickets till the date.

i) The right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami took 19 wickets in IPL 2019. He is the joint second most wicket-taker as a KXIP bowler in an IPL season (S Sreesanth also picked up 19 wickets for this side in IPL 2008). Andrew Tye is the record holder who bagged 24 wickets in the previous IPL season (IPL 2018).

ii) KL Rahul scored seven 50+ scores (one century and six half-centuries) in IPL 2019 which is the most number of 50+ scores for a KXIP batsman in an IPL season. The previous record holders were Shaun Marsh (IPL 2008) and KL Rahul (IPL 2018) with six 50+ scores.

iii) KL Rahul becomes the leading T20 run-scorer as an Indian batsman for KXIP. While he surpassed the previous record holder Wriddhiman Saha (1,190 runs) during this match, KL Rahul has scored 1,252 T20 runs for this side. At present, KL Rahul is the fourth most run-scorer for KXIP as Shaun Marsh (2,477 runs), David Miller (1,974 runs) and Glenn Maxwell (1,275 runs) are ahead of him.
