IPL 2019: MS Dhoni has a Advice for All the Budding Wicket-Keepers

If there was a school of stumping, MS Dhoni would have been its principal. Dhoni is like a ninja behind the stumps and he can get rid of the bails faster than the lightning. The master has the fastest hands in the game and he can catch the batsmen off-guard even if the batter is slightly outside the crease. MS Dhoni was at his best again against Delhi Capitals in the 50th match of the season on Wednesday at Chepauk Stadium.

Dhoni once again did what he does best against Delhi Capitals. The magician sent back Shreyas Iyer who had top-scored for DC with 44 runs. Furthermore, the linchpin affected another stumping of Chris Morris in the same over.

Not only Dhoni fired behind the stumps but also he was on song with the bat. The talisman was making a comeback from viral and he made a roaring comeback. The right-hander blasted 22-ball 44 with the help of four fours and three sixes. Thus, his blistering knock helped his side post an above par score of 179 after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batsman believes it is imperative to get the basics right. He suggested that he won’t tell the young keepers to attempt such stumpings. Dhoni gave credit to Tennis ball cricket of his childhood days for his sharp glovework behind the stumps.

Dhoni said while talking to the host broadcaster in the post-match presentation, “I think it’s something that’s come from tennis ball cricket. But you still have to do the basics and graduate to that level. If you want to keep like that you can make mistakes; so I still think basics are most important.”

Dhoni also gave tips to get more runs in the death overs. The master advice was simple, Watch the ball and hit the ball. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been in roaring form with the bat and there was never a downward slope in his wicketkeeping skills.

Dhoni has thus far amassed 358 runs at a staggering average of 119.33 and has scored his runs at a blistering strike rate of 142.63. Hence, Dhoni has been instrumental in the success of Chennai Super Kings.

The defending champions will play their last league match against Kings XI Punjab on 5th May.
