Mumbai Indians (MI) has advanced to the IPL 2019 final after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Qualifier 1 of IPL 2019 on Tuesday (7th May) night at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai). The Mumbai franchise comfortably won this match by six wickets (with nine balls to spare).

After winning the toss, CSK managed to score 131/4 (20 overs) in the first innings. Later, MI comfortably chased down that target in 18.3 overs after losing four wickets.

i) MI becomes the first team to beat CSK in four consecutive IPL meetings. MI’s last defeat against CSK was on 7th April 2018 at Mumbai. Since then, MI has won four successive matches against CSK.

ii) MI will play their fifth final during the IPL 2019 final. Only CSK has played more than five finals in IPL history (seven finals).

i) Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar had a match-economy rate of 3.50 (4-0-14-2). It is the second cheapest bowling performance by an MI spinner against CSK, who completed his four-over quota in a match. The record is 3.25 by Harbhajan Singh (4-0-13-1) at Mumbai on 5th May 2013.

ii) By the end of this match, South African cricketer Quinton de Kock has scored 500 runs in IPL 2019. After Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) and Lendl Simmons (West Indies), Quinton de Kock becomes the third MI overseas batsman to score 500 or more runs in an IPL season. Jayasuriya scored 514 runs in IPL 2008 and Simmons scored 540 runs in IPL 2015. Meanwhile, it is the eighth time when an MI batsman scored 500 or more runs in an IPL season.

iii) Suryakumar Yadav remained not out on 71 runs in the second innings. It is the highest individual score by an MI batsman at Chennai (MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk).

CSK

i) Ravindra Jadeja becomes the third CSK player to play 100 IPL matches. First two CSK players to achieve this feat were Suresh Raina (162 games) and MS Dhoni (158 games).

ii) Leg-spinner Imran Tahir (300 wickets) becomes the first South African bowler and seventh overall bowler to pick up 300 wickets in T20 career.
