IPL 2019: Rajasthan Royals Signs Steffan Jones as Fast Bowling Coach

The Rajasthan Royals have signed Steffan Jones as a fast bowling coach for the 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019). The former England bowler, Jones is known for his work with data and sports science. Steffan Jones has also worked with Derbyshire, Somerset and Hobart Hurricanes. In fact, England’s  fast bowler Stuart Broad has praised Jones for his work.

Rajasthan Royals head of cricket, Zubin Bharucha is excited to get the services of Steffan Jones. Bharucha said they are looking forward to make the most of Jones abilities.

Bharucha welcomes Jones.

“Jones thinks differently, and that is what we love at the Royals,” Royals’ Head of Cricket, Zubin Bharucha said. “His research into other sports is extremely interesting and his data and sports science focus meant he was a perfect fit for RR. Steffan brings in a fresh perspective to the art of fast bowling and we are excited to have him at Rajasthan Royals.”

In fact, Jones has a vast experience of first-class cricket. The veteran Engishman had played first class cricket for a long period of 14 years. He had represented Counties like Somerset, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire and Kent in his career.

Jones is also looking forward to work with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2019.

“It is a privilege for me to get this role and work with one of the best T20 teams in the world,” Jones said following his appointment. “Rajasthan Royals have a great culture of unearthing new talent and developing its cricketers which I am excited to be a part of. I am really looking forward to this opportunity to work with an extremely talented group of fast bowlers.”

Meanwhile, Steffan Jones had scalped 387 wickets in 148 matches in the red ball version whereas he picked up 256 wickets in 191 matches in the 50-overs format.
