It was in 2007 for the first time in the history of cricket when Indian cricket organised a Premier League with all the players across the globe in a mix in the shorter version of the game. Despite all the Indian players leading the franchise, it was Shane Warne, the only overseas skipper in the first season led Rajasthan Royals to bag the maiden title of the tournament.

But, the sad thing is that it was the only time Rajasthan Royals sealed the trophy in the last Eleven editions. In between, they also served a couple of years ban from the tournament for their involvement in the legal issues alongside Chennai Super Kings.

It could be Royal’s year this year – Shane Warne

Speaking of the prospects in the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League, Shane Warne quoted that they would miss their major players in the season with ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner. However, he believes that their availability in the 10-11 matches would certainly create a major impact on the team.

He believes that the upcoming edition would be Royal’s edition. Further, he went on to say that Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will also be in the contention to win the trophy.

”The boys have a put together an amazing squad. It is a World Cup year, we are probably going to lose Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Steve Smith and Jofra Archer maybe. But we think they will play 10-11 games and can still have an impact in the tournament. So the squad that Rajasthan Royals have, I think we will be one of the favourites,” he said.

”Mumbai and Chennai will always be favourites. But for us, anything less than the playoffs will be a disappointing year. When you think about it, we won it in the first year and we haven’t won it for the next ten years. I think it could be the Royals’ year this time,” Shane Warne said to India Today.

Well, as Shane Warne said, the absence of the top players might affect Rajasthan. But, they have got great prospects in the team, who make things fall in place for the team. All in all, it is going to be an exciting year for Royals.
