Delhi Capitals announced their skipper for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2019). They are continuing with their previous year skipper Shreyas Iyer, who took the reigns from Gautam Gambhir in the middle of the tournament. The franchise announced the news while unveiling their new name.
Shreyas Iyer was asked to lead the side when Gautam Gambhir stepped away from the middle of the tournament. The youngster showed a great character in leading the side and also batted beautifully with a lot of intent.
Changing the franchise name was always on the cards after JSW Sports – owners of football club Bengaluru FC – bought 50 per cent stake in the franchise earlier this year and wants to overhaul things completely.
