Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni played a blinder as they posted 179 runs in the clash between table-toppers against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Chennai had a very slow start after Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer asked them to bat first. The defending champions had a poor start losing Shane Watson in the fourth over to young Jagdeesh Suchit. Since then, Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis stitched a partnership to bail their side out. However, Delhi Capitals bowlers used the slowness of the pitch to keep both the star batters in check. Raina finally started given the innings some impetus while du Plessis found it hard as they managed to post 53 for one in the ten overs.

Chennai Super King started to up the ante, and in the process, Faf du Plessis departed to have Delhi at 87 for two. Suresh Raina soon followed the suit after scoring his 37th IPL fifty. Since then, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni -back from missing the last game gave some momentum as they started to take the attack to the opposition. Although Jadeja departed after a quickfire 10-balls 25, Dhoni continued with his hitting. The Chennai skipper looked in excellent touch taking the Delhi bowlers to cleaners.

Chris Morris, meanwhile, in the 18th over, bowled a nasty beamer to MS Dhoni. It was a full-toss delivery over the waist and travelled faster to Dhoni. Although he was taken by surprise, he kept his composure to hit over the short fine-leg fielder for a six. Morris soon came to Dhoni to apologise as the senior cricketer acknowledged it.
