Shimron Hetmyer has shown why is so highly-rated with a swashbuckling half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s last league game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Chasing 176 runs set by Hyderabad which is below par at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore lost Parthiv Patel in the first over. Reeling at one for one, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers went home packing in the next two overs. While the fate was already written for the home, Shimron Hetmyer and Gurkeerar Singh Mann – who have warmed the bench in the season mostly, came to Bangalore’s rescue.

They stitched a solid partnership not only to bail their side out of danger but also to keep Royal Challengers Bangalore in line for the run chase. While Gureekarat mainly focused on rotating the strike and hold one end steady, the Windies batsman went berserk against the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers. Shimron Hetmyer came into the IPL as one of the best talents, but a failure or two meant he had to sit away for most of the game. However, he has answered in style with a scintillating half-century to finish the tournament in grand fashion.

Hetmyer brought his fifty with a towering hit for six off Rashid Khan. With that smoking strike, the southpaw registered his maiden IPL half-century. He goes down on his knees and connects it magnificently well and dispatches it over deep square leg for a maximum. Shimron Hetmyer looked all pumped as he raised his bat to acknowledge the whole stadium and gave a salute to Royal Challengers Bangalore camp.
